Not the time to fight for power

The allegations of an effort to topple the government and that the Unity government has lost it majority have been the talk of the town in recent weeks.

This was after Bersatu supreme member Muhammad Faiz Na'aman also hinted that a movement to outthrow the government wasn't just speculation and was also known by the government's top leadership.

Last Wednesday, the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, voiced his concern over rumours concerning the stability of the government, although six months have passed since the 15th General Election.

He also placed high hopes in the recent general election and voted for 222 representatives to bring back political stability to the country.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the conspiracy to topple the unity government led by him will fail despite the parties involved admitting having sufficient statutory declaration (SD) to form a new government.

He also expressed confidence that the unity government would remain until the end of the term despite attempts to topple it.

According to Umno Youth Exco member Datuk Shahrul Nasrun Kamaruddin, the efforts by the opposition to oust the Unity government will have a huge impact on the people and the country, which will cause political instability and show the government as being weak.

Shahrul Nasrun said this will result in three major impacts: foreign investors will lose their confidence in the country, the country's performance assessment will depreciate, and the recovery of the country's economy post-Covid-19 will be stalled.

GPS chief whip and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that GPS will continue to focus on the stability of the Unity government to develop the economy and the people of Malaysia as ordered by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir reaffirmed again that BN will give its full and undivided support to the Unity government under Anwar.

Zambrys said this is because BN supports the people's aspiration to want a government that is peaceful, stable, and led by a prime minister who brought together political parties to form the Unity government.

All the allegations to topple the current government would already have a negative impact on the country and the people due to political instability, which makes it difficult for the government to implement any policy, thus restoring the country's performance.

This is not the time to fight for power, however, political leaders must give great focus to the welfare of the people and efforts to recover the country's economy.

Politicians should set a good example for the people because they are getting tired of all the endless power struggles the nation has seen.

What the people want now is for the government to be able to help the people who are affected by the increase in the cost of living, in addition to continuing policies to restore the national economy due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, politicians are asked to understand the grievances of the people, not just pursue their own personal interests.

It is high time that they stop such unwarranted actions and not drag the country into an uncertain political scene again.
