KUANTAN - An Orang Asli teenager died in an accident involving three vehicles believed to be caused by a cow crossing the road at KM5 of Jalan Chini-Kuantan, yesterday (Thursday).

Pekan district police chief Superintendent Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said the accident involved a Perodua Alza multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) driven by a housewife, 34, and two motorcycles in the area.

He said the report regarding the incident was received at about 3.50pm.

"The victim, identified as Arizal Arifin, 17, was reportedly riding his father's motorcycle towards Chini from Kuantan and another motorcycle was on the same lane.

"The investigation found that the accident occurred when the two motorcycles hit a cow that was crossing from the right to the left side of the road," he said in a statement, today.

He said following the accident, the teenager who was still in school was confirmed dead at the scene.

He added that the rider and passenger of the second motorcycle only suffered minor injuries while the driver of the car was not injured.

The case was investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
