KUALA LUMPUR - Police are investigating the case of a homemade bomb that exploded in Jalan Klang Lama at around 6am on Tuesday.

Brickfields District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the matter was informed by a 27-year-old man who received a call from a security guard.

"As a result of the investigation, the police found three white PVC pipes that had been modified into explosives. An inspection of the PVC pipe found a remote-controlled "Improvised Explosive Device (iED)".

"The Fire Department, Bomb Disposal Unit and the Forensic Department also conducted an investigation and found explosive fragments at the scene and fingerprints were successfully uncovered," he said in a statement.

He added that a CCTV footage found that two male suspects on the move.

The case is being investigated under Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957.

Conviction can result in a maximum prison sentence of seven years and a fine of up to RM10,000 or both.
