State election: Penang PH wants to defend all its seats
MOHD ISKANDAR OTHMANGEORGETOWN - Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) will defend all the seats held by the coalition in the next state election.
Its chairman Chow Kon Yeow said it was among the decisions made in the PH presidential council meeting yesterday.
He said if any incumbent decided to give up their seat, then the seat could be given to any party that wanted to take over.
"So far there is no incumbent from PH who wants to give up the seat they are contesting in the previous election.
"Other than that, in regards to exchanging seats in Penang to obtain seats outside the state as mentioned before... it can be negotiated," he said when met by reporters today.
He said this after attending the Wesak Day Celebration ceremony at the Malaysian Buddhist Association Building, Jalan Burma near here.
Commenting further, Chow said although PH has reached an agreement about the seat allocations, it still needed to negotiate with Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) first.
"We have our own opinions but we still need to listen to what Umno and BN will present later.
"We want to see if it is in line with our decision, and if it's the same then it would be easier to finalise," he said.
Chow also said any issues including those involving seat allocation needed to be resolved at the state level and the central leadership will support what has been decided on the state level.
However, the central leadership will solve issues that could not be resolved at the state level.
