PN targets winning 33 seats in Selangor to form government
SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) targets winning 33 of the 56 state seats in the upcoming state polls.
Selangor Pas Secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said if the target is met, the Pas and Bersatu coalition could form a new government in the state.
He said the confidence was based on the Malay voters' support for PN during the 15th general election (GE15).
"Umno itself has no Parliament seat in Selangor (in GE15). It is evident that Malay voters support PN," he said when contacted by Sinar on Sunday.
Roslan said during GE15, PN successfully won six parliament seats, including in BN stronghold areas such as Sabak Bernam and Tanjong Karang.
"It’s not impossible for us to give a tough fight for PH because we are targeting 33 state seats that have 60 per cent of Malay voters.
"For example, Pas commissioner Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi won the Kuala Langat seat, and the Malay voters there were only at 58.32 per cent.
He said if the support were translated into votes in the Selangor state election, he was confident that the state government under PH could be defeated.
"We saw the sentiments shown until today are still consistent, and the Malay voters support will not change," he added.
