SEPANG - A total of 30 Malaysians evacuated from the conflict in Sudan have safely arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today at 4.15pm.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir said the rescue operation also involved three more Malaysians from other countries including Palestine, the Philippines and Thailand.

"Op Sudan is basically done as based on the number of Malaysians who registered with the ministry then this is it, but we will still be following the developments in the conflict.

"If there are still Malaysians (in Sudan) who haven't registered then we hope that they could contact us so we can rescue them," he said this in a press conference at KLIA today.

On Thursday, Zambry said 30 Malaysians who were rescued from Khartoum were scheduled to arrive home today.

Meanwhile, he said the Malaysian Embassy in Sudan was temporarily closed due to the conflict in the country.

"For the time being, we will close (the embassy) and all matters related to the country will be managed by the Malaysian Embassy in Cairo (Egypt)," he said.

Furthermore, Zambry had advised Malaysians who had plans to travel to Sudan to postpone their trip.
