Kelantan people remain loyal to Pas despite handouts by opposition - Hadi
NOR SYAMIRA LIANA NOR ASHAHASHAH ALAM - With the state polls nearing, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang took to social media to highlight the unyielding loyalty of the Kelantese people to Pas.
The Marang member of parliament who likened the Kelantanese people to 'seluang', a type of small fish that smartly eats the bait and leaves the hook empty, said the people also took the handouts offered by opposition parties to vote against Pas.
"The Kelantan people are just like a 'seluang fish' which eats the bait left for bigger fish, leaving the hook empty, but they remained loyal and vote for Pas.
"This is also what was taught by the late Pas spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, who told the people to take whatever was offered to them in exchange for their vote but always vote for Pas.
"Kelantanese residing out of state are lured to return home to vote using specially arranged vehicles and given 'tickets' and donations, which are used as bait to put up opposition party flags.
"However, this group has never been influenced to vote for the opposition," he added.
Pas has managed to establish a government free from the 'disease of corruption' even though our financial abilities are limited, but we are still sturdy in governing the state, Hadi said in a Facebook post.
He added that obsession with material things destroys leaders and people nowadays.
This has led to corruption, starting from the administration level to the political parties ruling the country, Hadi said.
Hadi added that when corruption exists in a country, there will be a situation where leaders are elected through vote-buying to gain the people's support.
"This also includes the Unity government that was established by contributors to corruption and those infected with corruption disease," he said.
In the meantime, he also reminded that the upcoming state election will be a test of repentance just like in the last 15th General Election (GE15).
He added that even though young people are considered inexperienced because they haven't completed their studies but they are still wise enough to uphold the religion, people, and country with dignity as instructed by Allah SWT.
