ALOR SETAR - Umno veteran Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid has proposed the Madani Open House to be held in all states to establish a connection between the unity government and the people.

He further suggested more state-level events to introduce the Madani government after they have been given the mandate.

The former Umno vice-president said the event organised in six states should not be dismissed as a waste. Instead, it should be regarded as an event that honours the people of the states involved

"Kedah Umno welcomes the central government's decision to organise the Madani Open House with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Raia Hotel, Alor Setar this Saturday.

"It would surely be a good platform for the people from different states to meet the prime minister and unity government Cabinet Ministers," he said in a press release today.

Mahdzir said in addition, the open house offers a chance for the people of Kedah to hear directly from the Prime Minister on his vision and mission for the development of every state, particularly Kedah.

The open house will be held in six states - Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, expressed on Sunday that organising open houses in the six states holding elections soon should be avoided due to high costs. This is despite the Federal government's earlier announcement of cost-cutting measures.
