Kindergarten destroyed in fire, causes unknown
SHAH ALAM - An Islamic Nursing Central (Pasti) kindergarten was engulfed in fire today at Lorong Haji Said, Kampung Jalan Kebun, here.
Selangor Fire Department director Morni Mamat said a team of firefighters from the Shah Alam, Andalas, and Klang Port fire and rescue departments rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 12:37 pm.
"The fire destroyed two storey Pasti school measuring 40x80 square feet.
"When the firemen arrived the fire had spread to the shop lots and the homes next to the school.
"However the fire was brought under control by 1.22pm," he said.
He said no one was harmed in the fire incident, and both the homeowners and premise owners were able to evacuate the area safely.
"90.99 per cent of the Pasti building was destroyed while the homes and shops were 80 per cent burned down.
"Investigations are still underway to identify the cause of the fire," he said.
