SHAH ALAM - The Special Committee on Corruption (JKMR) member, Hassan Karim has asked for Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar take leave from his duties or resign until probe into a corruption case is completed.

He said the minister should set a good example as he supports Pakatan Harapan's agenda to eradicate corruption in Malaysia.

"I am making this media statement as a supporting MP to the unity government and who serves at a monitoring body of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

"He certainly understands the principle of 'collective responsibility' and 'ministerial responsibility' in the Cabinet or Federal Government," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

On April 17, Sivakumar was summoned at MACC office in connection with allegations of receiving cash from a businessman along with two of his senior officers.

Meanwhile, three of his senior officers involved were suspended, including a private secretary and a special duties officer (PTTK) who were detained in connection with the corruption investigation related to the approval of foreign workers.

So far two aides have returned to work.

However, Hassan said every minister must be responsible for maintaining the good name of the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is clearly taking action to curb corrupt practices in the government machinery.
