LABUAN - Upgrading and beautification works will continue be carried out in areas identified as ‘crowd pullers’ on this duty-free island.

Labuan Corporation (LC) chief executive officer Rithuan Ismail said several locations could be transformed as public recreation spots that could be enjoyed by an entire community.

"We want to transform strategic areas into becoming a multipurpose space for locals and visitors to enjoy the scenery and ‘spread the word’ about Labuan.

"Importantly we must provide infrastructure and facilities,” he said to Bernama after officiating "Love Labuan" sculpture at Labuan International Golf Club (LIGC) here today.

The newly-completed RM20,000 sculpture, which is standing outside of the LIGC, would soon become another favorite place for spending time for a photography sessions and socialising.

"The sculpture structure of Love Labuan is strategically located facing the sunset and sunrise, and it is suitable for people to enjoy the scenery,” Rithuan said.

He said the existing area of the sculpture was idle before getting a facelift to benefit the public and visitors.

"All the while LIGC is a favourite place for newlyweds’ photo shoot sessions, and with the completion of the sculpture it adds value to the golf club,” he said.

Rithuan said LC would continue to come up with beautification development plans to spruce up Labuan into an attractive destination.
