Police sergeant arrested on suspicion of soliciting bribe
KUANTAN - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a police sergeant from Temerloh District Police Headquarters (IPD) for suspicion of involvement in a corruption case.
The 44-year-old suspect was arrested upon presenting himself to testify at MACC office in Temerloh at 6.45pm yesterday.
Based on the investigation, the policeman was suspected of soliciting bribe in the form of jewellery (gold bracelet) from an individual, in return for withdrawing a police report involving his nephew in a beating case against the complainant.
The suspect who worked in the Criminal Investigation Department had allegedly commited the offence at about 2pm at a fast food restaurant in Taman Chengal, Temerloh on April 15.
The case was investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
The suspect was brought to Temerloh Magistrate's Court today to receive remand order.
Magistrate Mohamed Shah Reza Noor Azman had granted six-day remand order against the suspect, which will end this Sunday.
