Police seize firecrackers worth of RM25,000 for sale with no permit
SHAHRIZAL AHMAD ZAINIKOTA TINGGI - Police confiscated firecrackers worth RM25,000 during raids at four different premises in Kota Tinggi yesterday.
Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Hussin Zamora said the 8.30pm to 11.30pm raids found firecrackers stored in 17 large boxes, believed to be for sale.
The police detained four local man aged between 20 to 50 during the raid.
"As a result of the investigation, the police discovered the premises did not own permits to sell firecrackers and fireworks.
"Although none of the arrested individuals had any prior criminal records, they were detained for further investigation.," he said.
The case was investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957 for possessing, keeping or selling explosives, which carries imprisonment of up to seven years or RM10,000 fine or both, if convicted.
