Aidilfitri prayers in Perlis encouraged to be held in open areas
KANGAR - Aidilfitri prayers throughout Perlis this year are encouraged to be performed in open areas (musolla) at 8am.
The Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the selection of the open area is subject to the decision of the respective mosque kariah committees statewide.
"However, the kariah committee can consider the use of space in the mosque if needed depending on the space and the number of worshippers present.
"For Aidilfitri prayers, other than the musolla determined by the mosque kariah committee such as the official surau in the state of Perlis, the implementation should be referred to the mosque kariah committee and be approved by the Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department," he said in a statement today.
However, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said if the weather was not suitable, the prayers could be held in mosques at 8.15 am.
Following the current increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, worshippers are encouraged to take safety measures including wearing a face mask and bringing their own prayer mats, he added.
"For kariah Kota Raja Arau, the prayers will be performed at Dataran Istiadat Istana Arau, but if the weather does not permit outdoor prayers to take place, it would be conducted in the prayer room of Masjid Negeri Arau,” he said. - BERNAMA
