MELAKA - Melaka will rejuvenate educational tourism in the state with the cooperation of the Melaka Museum Corporation (Perzim) to boost awareness and patriotism among youth.

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said the initiative aimed to make you more well-versed in history and not be easily misled by misrepresentations of history by irresponsible parties.

"I have held a meeting with Perzim, especially the education and research rector, to involve our children, from primary school, through history-based courses.

"This might have been done previously and we want to bring this effort back as it will be of great benefit to the youth in the future,” he told reporters after a breaking fast event here today, which was also attended by his deputy, Datuk Zaidi Attan.

He also said that educational tourism is expected to boost tourist arrivals to the state, adding that the state government was also upgrading the existing museums in the state in terms of facilities to attract more tourists.

On whether the state government would turn Melaka into a history educational hub, he said the matter was being studied at the state executive council level. - BERNAMA
