KUALA LUMPUR - Perikatan Nasional (PN) stands a good chance of winning the coming state elections but its not revealing its winning strategy.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said: "I can't tell the plans now since it's a top strategy. If I tell you it's not a strategy," he told Sinar Daily during Politically Frank interview.

Hamzah further said he was confident that PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be free of all charges against him.

Last month, Muhyiddin was slapped with multiple charges for graft and money laundering at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court. He had been charged for four counts of abuse of power involving RM232. 5mil and two counts of money laundering involving RM195mil.

Saying that all charges made against PN leaders were "politically motivated", Hamzah said the charges were merely an optic, to be used as weapon against them.

"We believe when we compare the case on Muhyiddin and other cases before this, we know that he is going to win but they would like to use that to go against us. That's why I call it 'politically motivated'," he said.

Six states - Kedah, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang and Terengganu will hold state elections this year.

Kelantan PAS has hinted that the state will not call for elections before the state assembly’s term ends, saying it was better to wait until it expired on June 26.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun had suggested that its state assembly be dissolved on June 1 to pave the way for its 15th state election.
