Tenom Immigration Office broken into, security guard tied up
TENOM - A security guard on duty suffered injuries after he was attacked and tied up in an incident at Tenom Immigration Office, here, early Thursday morning.
In the incident between 1am and 2am, the victim who is in his 30s was believed to have been attacked with a sharp object by two suspects who had broke into the office.
Sabah Immigration director Datuk Sharifah Sitti Saleha Habib Yusof said a police report on the incident had been lodged at 12.41pm.
"The security guard said he was attacked by two suspects and the palm of his hand was injured in addition to being tied up before the suspects broke in through the back door by cutting the cast iron grating of the office.
"The suspect left the office by climbing over the back fence and getting into a sedan-type car that had been waiting in the area," she said in a statement today.
She also said the Kota Kinabalu police forensic team had arrived at the location around 10.30am to conduct further investigation.
"Preliminary investigation found that the office machines and equipments were still functioning and not damaged," she said.
Sharifah has sought cooperation from the public who have any information related to the incident to report to the nearest police station.
"The public is also advised not to issue any statements and spread any rumors on any platform to avoid any speculation and provocation that could intefere with the investigation and threaten the public peace," she said.
