Perak Umno Youth refuses to entertain KJ's criticism
IPOH - Perak Umno Youth refuses to entertain any criticism made by former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin after he was sacked from the party.
Its chief Nazirul Jamaluddin said they instead wanted to focus on working to ensure the young people return to Umno.
He said entertaining any criticism made by former leaders and outsiders will not benefit the party.
"When I was Youth chief, we were indeed with him (Khairy). However now in regards of commenting about Umno, Perak Umno Youth has decided to put the matter aside as our main focus is to ensure young people stay together with Umno. We don't want any external criticism to damage Umno.
"Our work won't budge if we focus on KJ or any leader who had left Umno. Perhaps he has his own ways and we also have our own ways.
"If it's KJ then maybe he actually wants the people to remember him often but for us, our goal is for the youth to be with Umno," he told reporters when met after Umno Youth Sahur Programme, here, on Thursday night.
In another development, Nazirul said Perak Umno Youth is in the process of planning methods to strengthen all its wings at the division and branch levels throughout the state.
He said there were several programmes they had planned to approach young people and students in effort to increase interests towards the party.
"Our KPI (key performance indicator) is to attract youth in the state to join Umno. We will use various available channels for that.
"I am confident that this effort can be achieved as 90 percent of the Umno divisional youth chiefs who had won the recent election are new," he said.
Meanwhile, Nazirul said his party was in the process of establishing cooperation with the youth wings of the current Unity Government parties.
