'Don't say I didn't warn you', Hassan tells Anwar
ZULHISHAM ISAHAKJOHOR BAHRU - Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim claims the unity government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would face a big catastrophe if Datuk Seri Najib Razak receives a royal pardon and Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s charges are dropped.
He said the two high-profile cases will have an impact on the government, and Anwar needs to be reminded about this.
"Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) coalition would be rejected by the people in the state polls and also in the next general election.
"In the end, PH and PKR will collapse and fall together with BN and Umno if Najib and Zahid are freed and get off easily. If that happens, don’t say I didn’t warn you," he said in a statement on Monday.
On Aug 23, 2022, the Federal Court upheld the conviction and sentence of 12 years imprisonment, along with a fine of RM210 million, imposed on Najib, who was guilty of embezzling RM42 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.
On March 31, 2023, Najib failed to obtain approval to review the conviction and sentence. Following this, Umno has been pushing for a royal pardon for the former premier.
Meanwhile, Zahid told the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Monday that the representation to drop 47 charges in the Akalbudi Foundation corruption case he faced was sent to Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun in Jan and Feb.
Lawyer Hamidi Mohd Noh, who is representing the Bagan Datuk MP said the 200-page representation has been addressed to Idrus and must be thoroughly observed by the prosecution.
