SHAH ALAM - Pas has not received application from former Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa to join the Islamic party despite speculations to do so.

Deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the matter remains a "hearsay".

"We have not receive any application or confirmation from Annuar on his intentions to join Pas," he told Sinar.

This comes after speculations that Anwar, the former Ketereh MP may join Pas after facing a sack from Umno.

On Dec 9 last year, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said the party's supreme council members had agreed to sack Annuar from Umno. Others were Arau Umno Women chief Datin Seri Shamsiah Yasin and Maran Umno Women's chief Datin Seri Fatimah Kassim.

Shamsiah is wife to Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim while Fatimah Kassim is the wife to Maran MP Datuk Ismail Abdul Muttalib.

The two MPs won in GE15 under Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket.

Sinar is in the midst of getting more clarification over the speculations and is awaiting a comment from Annuar.

It is understood that Annuar is now in Mekah to perform Umrah with his family.

Pas vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar on April 1 welcomed anyone who wanted to join the party including Annuar who is said to do so after Hari Raya.

He said the party leadership is open to accepting Annuar and other leaders into his party.

Meanwhile, former press secretary to the former communications and multimedia minister Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said, so far he has not receive information over Annuar joining Pas.
