A 24-year-old woman was arrested for further investigation into an abuse case involving two children in Seri Kembangan.

SERDANG - A woman was held for further investigation into a child abuse case involving two children in Seri Kembangan, here, yesterday.

Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner A.A Anbalagan said an investigation has previously been carried out over a viral video on TikTok showing two children aged 4 and 7 allegedly being abused while they were at their babysitter's house.

"A police report on the incident was lodged by a non-goverment organisation representative on April 4.

"Investigations found that the victims' mother discovered bruises all over her children's bodies as well all caning marks," he said in a statement.

The two victims were then taken to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang for further treatment.

"Both victims were admitted to the hospital on April 4 for treatment before they were discharged on April 6," he said.

The investigation, he said also found that the two children were sent by their mother to the babysitter who was her acquitance.

"Both victims were sent to the babysitter's house since their mother was working in Singapore.

"Further investigations then led to the arrest of a 24-year-old woman," he said.

Anbalagan said the case was being investigated under Section 31 (1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

He said the Selangor Social Welfare Department (JKM) has been informed about the case and it was understood that the department was monitoring the case.

"Those with information related to the incident could contact the police," he said.

On Friday, a video had gone viral on TikTok showing two children being abused by a woman believed to be their babysitter at a house.
