Bursa Malaysia marginally lower at mid-morning
KUALA LUMPUR - Bursa Malaysia's main index was trading marginally lower at mid-morning, due to the lack of catalyst amidst cautious sentiments in the market.
At 11.02 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 0.85 points to 1,424.04 from yesterday's closing of 1,424.89.
The benchmark index opened 0.03 of-a-point lower at 1,424.86.
However, market breadth was positive as gainers edged past decliners 298 to 283, while 329 counters were unchanged, 1,306 untraded and 13 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 873.32 million units worth RM450.30 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank gained two sen to RM8.67 and Petronas Chemicals added 13 sen to RM7.38, while Public Bank fell three sen to RM3.98, CIMB lost nine sen to RM5.17 and TNB trimmed four sen to RM9.21.
As for the actives, Sunsuria rose seven sen to 68.5 sen, Top Glove edged up five sen to RM1.07, Careplus increased 1.5 sen to 35.5 sen and Tanco added half-a-sen to 46.5 sen, while Classita shaved off 1.5 sen to 18 sen
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 9.69 points to 10,464.83, the FBMT 100 Index improved 8.56 points to 10,149.11 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index strengthened 35.91 points to 10,798.59.
The FBM 70 Index went up 72.06 points to 13,661.71 and the FBM ACE Index was 25.34 points lower at 5,302.87.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index dipped 48.71 points to 15,597.24, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched up 0.75 of-a-point to 173.83, the Energy Index perked 2.78 points to 864.43, and the Plantation Index gained 2.21 points to 6,725.81. - BERNAMA
