MELAKA - Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh targets zero opposition in Melaka before the enactment of the anti-hopping law is passed in the state.

He said that as of now, 26 out of the 28 state assembly seats were held by government representatives, including Pakatan Harapan (PH) five state assemblymen, and the remaining seats were held by Barisan Nasional (BN).

"Only two assemblymen were from the opposition bloc in the state. It is my wish that when the enactment of the anti-party hopping law is tabled here, the state will have zero opposition.

"I hope they will be onboard with us; if this succeeds, I will be the happiest man in Melaka," he said in his speech at the Iftar event with the media and state exco at the Ames Hotel in Ayer Keroh on Thursday.

So far, seven states have enforced the anti-party hopping law, including Penang, Perak, Perlis, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Sarawak, and Selangor.

Ab Rauf also presented cash aid of RM412, 393 to the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria via 'Briged Negaraku'.
