JELI - A suspicious man in a car near Jalan Jeli-Dabong, Kampung Lama Kuala Balah, here, on Tuesday led to the discovery of 6,000 methamphetamine pills valued around RM60,000.

Jeli district police chief Superintendent Saari Yaacob said the 47-year-old suspect was arrested at 11pm.

He said the man in the grey Proton Wira was arrested during a crime prevention patrol by Kuala Balah police officers.

"The officer who identified himself to the suspect examined the black sling bag the man was wearing.

"Examinations on the bag found several packets containing 6,000 methamphetamine pills weighing around 600 grams," he said in a press release, here, on Wednesday.

He said the suspect had prior records of drug abuse and possession.

"Urine tests found him positive for methamphetamine.
