Ahmad Zahid
The Rural and Regional Development minister said there were 280 TVET institutions under KKDW and its agencies, adding that some of the TVET fields under the institutions have reached a 98.4 per cent rate in graduate marketability including aircraft maintenance.
"This is what we want to prove to the community, that the investment made by the government through TVET, especially under KKDW, will give good results," he said while speaking at the KKDW Santunan Kasih Ramadan programme here today.
Zahid said the demand for TVET graduates continued to increase, and some graduates are earning more than those who are involved in non-technical and skills-related jobs.
He said many technocrats from developed countries such as Germany, Japan, South Korea and the United States also came from the TVET field, adding that the community should be aware of the importance of TVET and that the field should not be the second option for students who do not excel in academics.
TVET students can pursue a higher-level education from the diploma to the PhD level to increase their skills and improve their marketability, he added.
Also present during the programme were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.- BERNAMA
