Thunderstorm warning, heavy rain in several states

SHAH ALAM - Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued thunderstorm, heavy rain, and strong wind warnings in several states until 1am on Wednesday.
The states involved are the whole of Perlis, while in Kedah, warnings were issued involving Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, and Pendang.
"For Perak, the area involved is Hulu Perak, while in Johor, the areas affected are Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, and Kluang.
"In Sabah, the bad weather warning includes inland areas such as Tenom, Nabawan, and Keningau, while in Sandakan it involves Tongod," said the department in a Facebook post today.
MetMalaysia informed that the forecast was issued due to signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close to or expected to occur for more than an hour.
"Thunderstorm warnings are short-term and are valid for no more than six hours for a single release.
