There are still parties asking for commissions - PM

PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has admitted that there are still parties asking for commissions when dealing with government ministries, department or offices.

In his speech during the monthly meeting with staff from the the Prime Minister's Department, Anwar said he hoped all parties would cooperate to curb this culture.

"We can't deny that it still happens. I have heard some individuals asking for a commission from my office, department of ministries and even from government officers," he said on Monday.

Anwar said efficient and clean methods must be present in every business dealings to attract and increase investors' confidence in this country.

"It will take some time to eradicate old cultures.

"I ask everyone to cooperate among each other because when the image improves, it would become much easier," he said.

Anwar said if good governance and a clean image can be maintained, he believes the country's future would be brighter than before.

"I think there's a new surge of Malaysian image and hope," he added.
