Packed Ramadan bazaars woos people with best prices, buys

SHAH ALAM - Ramadan bazaar here is packed with people buying food and to prepare for Raya celebrations.

Among the crowded bazaar were Jalan Perbadanan, Seksyen 14, here, with traffic congestion that starts from noon.

Civil servant Faizal Marzuki, 38 said his children were excited about celebrating Raya after a simple celebration due to Covid-19 pandemic.

"The preparation this year is different compared to the past three years but we are still spending prudently as the prices of goods has gone up.

"Prices of cloths have gone up by 50 per cent compared to previous years so we had set aside about RM1,500 for Raya preparation," said the father of two.

A teacher Zakaria A Rani, 49 said he bought raya cloths for his wife and two kids at Kompleks PKNS Shah Alam.

"The price of clothes has gone up by at least 50 per cent and we prepared enough money to buy the necessary," he said.

Meanwhile, trader Faridah Marzuki, 46, said business has been good with people coming in as early as 11am to buy clothes.

She said she expected the number of customers to continue increasing on the third and fourth week of Ramadan.

On price increase, Faridah said the price of clothes sold online was far more expensive and could not be bargained with.

"Traders here are still selling them at reasonable prices and give discounts if buyers spend a lot. It's not the same when you buy it online," she said.

Another trader known as Along also said the price of clothes sold were still lower than the current market price and customers can even try on the clothes first before buying it.

"Customers can also personally choose the clothes with the desired quality at prices as low as RM50 to RM200 a pair of baju kurung and baju Melayu," said Along.
