AMPANG - Police have arrested a part-time singer in Ukay Perdana, here, yesterday for allegedly beating her 16-year-old adopted daughter.

It was understood that victim had trouble breathing and after anquiry she had revealed the abuse to her teacher.

She was allegedly threatened to be murdered.

The teacher had then lodged a police report and took her to Ampang Hospital for treatment.

The incident was said to have started when the victim wanted to go for taraweeh prayers after breaking fast but her adoptive mother did not believe her and suspected she was going out to meet a male friend.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak confirmed the arrest when contacted.

"The urine test found she was negative for drugs," he said, adding that the 46-year-old woman was arrested to assist in the investigation according to Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 2017.
