Former Perak police chief becomes an attorney

IPOH - Former Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid has been accepted today as an attorney and solicitor of the Malaya High Court.

The admission proceedings of Mior Faridalathrash, 61, who had retired from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) after 40 years of service, was completed before Ipoh High Court Judge Datuk Abdul Wahab Mohamed.

There was no objection from the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) and the Perak Bar Committee over the petition to be accepted as an attorney and solicitor.

Mior, who was accompanied by his wife Datin Nor Qhadijah Abdul Wahab said combining his experience in the police force and knowledge in law will help him carry out his new responsibilities better.

"In any field, we seek for justice. When we are in the police force, we take action to ensure that the law is enforced.

"But when I switch to the legal field, I have to make sure justice is served when I represent my clients in court.

"Although it is a heavier task compared to law enforcement, I will adapt myself to ensure that I do my task well and justice is served," he said.

Mior, who was Perak police chief from November 2020 to August 2022, will begin his duties as an attorney at Messrs. Badrul, Samad, Faik & Co.

Mior had continued his studies in Bachelor of Law at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) during his service and graduated with Honours.

In 2012, he obtained a Master's Degree in Intellectual Property Law at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

The Kuala Kangsar, Perak-born man then started training under the guidance of Tun Mohamad Ammar Aziz of Messrs. Ammar Aziz & Co.
