Unity government might not be established in Johor - DPM
MUAR - Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today hinted the establishment of the unity government as in Malacca might not be replicated in other states, including Johor.
The Umno president explained the situation in Malacca was not related to the political situations in other states.
He asked for all parties not to speculate regarding the development of a unity government including in Johor as it could affect political stability.
“Why must there be worries. What happened in Malacca had nothing to do with situations in other states. This was due to the political situation in other states differing from Malacca.
“I hope there are no speculations arising because what was important was political stability not nationally but also stability that must be achieved in all states.
“What’s important is that the people expect this stability would lead to an influx of foreign investments. The stability could also lead to more economic opportunities on the basis of trust towards businesses domestically or overseas,” he said.
He said this during the press conference after the Santunan Kasih Ramadhan ceremony at the Sungai Gersik Mosque, here on Thursday.
Also present were Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also Higher Education Minister, and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
Zahid said Johor had its own model towards implementing the unity government at the state level.
“I was informed that in Johor, it was implemented through the Johor state itself where the state government has given appropriate allocations to all assemblymen.
“It will surely provide a good lens towards the Johor government and it would provide balance between the state government represented by BN assemblymen, other coalition party assemblymen including those not with the unity government,” he said.
