UDA fetes orphans at buka puasa do
KUALA LUMPUR - UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) feted 40 orphans from Pusat Jagaan Penyayang Nur Iman Kuala Lumpur at a buka puasa function at the Boathouse, Tasik Ampang here today.
Each child also received a cash donation amounting to RM200 through the company's social responsibility (CSR) program UDA Cares.
A zakat contribution was also made to five non-governmental organisation (NGOs) namely Pusat Jagaan Penyayang Nur Iman Kuala Lumpur, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Nur Syaheera Kuala Lumpur, Rumah Permata Hatiku, Rumah Anak Yatim Shifa and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Baitu Saidati Khadijah amounting to RM58,000 to prepare for the celebration of Ramadan and the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
The donation handover was completed by UDA chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Salem, witnessed by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
A total of RM10,000 was distributed to each NGO and a replica of the cheque was handed over to the NGO representatives who attended the ceremony
"I hope UDA's CSR initiatives which cares for orphans, and the disabled continues their good work.
“The ministry hopes that the good relations between UDA and all media practitioners in this country can continue in the future,” Ewon said when met by reporters after the event.
He expressed his gratitude for the support given to UDA by the media which he said ensures the ecosystem of growth for micro, small and medium enterprises (PMKS).
Meanwhile Datuk Mohd Salem said he hoped that the company's contribution will provide great meaning for theunderprivileged and orphaned children.
"I hope that it will be able to create some happiness for them ahead of Raya this year,” Salem said
