SHAH ALAM - Enjoying the ambience of iftar in an open space will definitely give people a brand new experience especially the young people celebrating the month of Ramadan.

A visitor to the Iftar Ala Madinah@Karangkraf programme, Iman Nur Hakim Rosdan, 23, said the ambiance when breaking fast in a crowd space feels more livelier than being alone without family members.

Iman, who is also a public university student, was initially surprised that Kompleks Kumpulan Karangkraf could host a programme capable of accommodating 1,000 visitors at a time.

"At first when I registered, I was a little worried about whether there would be enough food or space for 1,000 people but it was definitely enough for everyone who were present.

"I will definitely come again in the future as this kind of programme is really good for us to increase the spirit of community," he told Sinar Harian.

Meanwhile, another visitor Ahmad Nazrulhakim Norazman, 23, said he knew about the Iftar Ala Madinah@Karangkraf programme since last year but didn't have the opportunity to participate then.

He, who is also a public university student said he was excited to attend the programme since it was his first time experiencing iftar with a large group of people.

"This programme is different in terms of the atmosphere itself. Normally, we would eat alone in our college room during iftar but in an event like this, we can strengthen the spirit of brotherhood among Muslims by gathering together for iftar like this," he said.

Furthermore, technician Mohd Shahrul Tajadin, 49, said that he and his family had not missed the opportunity to attend the programme organised by Karangkraf since last year.

"The children really love it when they break their fast in this lively atmosphere.

"Before this and during the Movement Control Orders (MCO), we only broke fast at home. So when we found out about this programme through the newspaper, we decided to join in," he said.

Further, civil servant Mohamad Safwan Mohamad Shuib, 25, admitted this was his first time participating in this kind of programme.

"Even before this, I had never experienced breaking-fast with a large group of people and even if I had, it would have been during my school days.

"However, I would like to point out that when I arrived for the event, I didn't know where the entrance was since this is my first time coming here.

"So I hope the management can include a signpost to the entrance," he said.
