Two aides to ex-PM among 20 individuals identified owning assets to 1MDB, says report
SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has identified 20 people, including two special officers to a former Prime Minister, as individuals who purportedly own assets using 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds.
According to Utusan Malaysia, quoting sources it said the assets, which included real estate, cash in banks, and shares, were all traced to foreign countries.
The assets are said to be part of the 30 per cent of the remaining 1MDB-linked funds that the MACC is trying to recover.
It was further reported that the assets are believed to be from several countries, including Hong Kong, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Singapore, the United States, Kuwait, Germany, Mauritius, and several other offshore locations.
Earlier this month, MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki said that more than 70 per cent of 1MDB's assets and funds, totaling to about RM28.93 billion, have been recovered so far.
Recently, it was reported that Rohana Rozhan, Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner's former girlfriend returned US$10 million (RM44.3 million) 1MDB-linked cash and assets to MACC.
