GUA MUSANG - A construction worker died after a failed attempt to overtake a vehicle resulted in him crashing his motorcycle into a trailer at Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, here, on Sunday.

The accident at 9.40am killed the 47-year-old on the spot.

Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said early investigations found the victim was riding the motorcycle from Kuala Terengganu towards Gua Musang and failed to overtake a car.

“The situation caused the victim to lose control of the motorcycle and crashed into a trailer heading in the opposite direction on the two-way road.

“The trailer had slammed on the brakes 17 metres away and attempted to swerve however, the victim had crashed into the left rear wheel of the trailer,” he said in a statement.

The victim who was working as a construction worker at the Central Spine Road (CSR) Highway site at the Kelantan-Pahang border died at the scene.

He said the body was brought to the Gua Musang Hospital forensic unit for an autopsy.

Sik said the case was investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing a deadly accident.

“However further investigations are still underway,” he said.
