Proton X50 crashes into food outlet after driver accidentally hits accelerator

IPOH - A woman accidentally crashed her sports utility vehicle (SUV) into a shop in Jalan Bandar Timah, here, after she hit the accelerator by accident.

The driver in her 50s who worked as a manager at a private company sustained bruises on her forehead in the incident at 6pm, yesterday.

In the incident, a passenger who was a senior citizen also sustained wounds to the face.

Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said during the incident, the victim who was with her four family members was parking her car to go have a meal.

He said the passengers had all stepped out of the car before the woman accidentally hit the gas pedal causing the Proton X50 to go up the divider crashing into a shop.

“The SUV had crashed into a food outlet. Luckily the premises was not open during the incident,” he said when contacted, yesterday.

He said the front of the SUV was damaged and the windshield was shattered.

Yahaya said investigations found that the woman and her family came from Selangor for a vacation in Ipoh.
