KAJANG - A man was detained after he hit his father with a chair while breaking fast at their home in an incident, here on Friday.

The 34-year-old suspect was believed to have gotten furious after being reprimanded by his father for reciting the dua for breaking fast in a haste.

Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said a police report was lodged by the 63-year old victim around 7.45pm.

“Investigations found that the suspect was not satisfied after he was reprimanded for reciting the dua too fast and swung a chair towards the victim’s head and the legs of the chair broke.

“However, the situation was resolved by one of the victim’s children before contacting the police,” he said in a statement, today.

He said the suspect was arrested immediately after the incident.

“The victim suffered light injuries on his forehead and arms.

“The dining table chair the suspect used to hit the victim was seized for further investigation,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 2017.
