An online car dealer charged in Court for scam
KUALA LUMPUR - An online dealer has pleaded not guilty in three Magistrate Courtshere today, to charges of scamming three other dealers in car sales amounting to RM30,200 last year.
Chuan Kian Voon, 46, made the confession after all the charges were read before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim, Nadia Othman and Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim.
According to the charges, he was accused of scamming one man and two women aged between 30 to 55 years old by tricking them into buying a Mercedes GLA 250, a Porche Macan and a Honda Civic car, with a deposit of RM30,200.
The accused asked all victims to transfer the money to several bank accounts owned by other individuals, including cash, which the victims would have not handed over if they weren't tricked.
The offence was allegedly committed at a Supermarket in Cheras in June and Dec 12, 2022.
The charges were made under Section 420 of the Penal Code which carries a prison sentence of no less than a year and not more than 10 years and whipping as well as a fine, if convicted.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Hafiezah Mohamed Fauzi while lawyer Muhammad Amirul Mukminin Mohd Sufian represented the accused.
The court then allowed Kian Voo to be released on bail at RM14,000 for all charges with one surety.
The accused was also required to report to the nearest police station every month.
The court has set May 9 and 16 as the mention of case.
