Sipitang Umno division polls invalid, to be held again
SIPITANG – The Sipitang Umno division has been ordered to re-conduct the division representative meeting after the March 18 meeting was ruled invalid.
Sipitang Umno division chief Datuk Kamarlin Ombi confirmed the election must be held again and was expected to be done after Eid.
"Yes, I confirm it, and the re-election will be conducted by Sabah Umno.
"The dates are not set, but it may be held after Eid because there are three divisions including Beluran and Kota Kinabalu," he told Sinar Harian on Friday.
He said this following a letter that went viral on WhatsApp reportedly from Umno central division on a complaint about Sipitang Umno division election.
The letter encompassed complaints related to the irregularities in the meeting and the party election process in the said divisions.
After an investigation was conducted, the Umno Election Committee decided to rule that the Sipitang Umno division meeting and election were invalid.
The Sipitang Umno division must now re-elect all posts in the divisions, however, this does not affect the central level elections.
