LGBT should be curbed by all parties - Selangor Pas

SHAH ALAM - The spread of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) thinking must be curbed by all parties to avoid damaging the new generation's culture, values and idealism.

Selangor Pas Commissioner Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi urged the government to take proactive measures to curb the viral promotion and recruitment of the youths towards funding and participating in LGBT activities in the state.

He said an LGBT-related programme scheduled to take place on March 30 during Ramadan has caused anger and created disharmony as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was currently performing his umrah.

"Selangor Pas invites all parties including religious representatives to come together and curb the spread of LGBT from continuously damaging the new generation's culture, values and idealism to build a cleaner and more prosperous Selangor through the hashtag #menoktahkanLGBTtiadaHIV," he said in a statement, today.

Yunus said Pas Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had also in the Dewan Rakyat on Wedneday revealed about a programme called "Thai Hot Guy" being promoted in the country.

He said this followed a statement by the party's secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan urging the government to take action against immoral and disrespectful programmes during Ramadan.

He added that the materials used to promote the events had caused protests to be carried out by the Bukit Bintang Pas and it went viral on Twitter through a speech by Gombak Pas liaison chief Dr Fairuz Azmi leading to a total of 60 police reports being lodged.

"Selangor Pas would like to congratulate the police for being firm which was shown by Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah who had taken action cancelling the LGBT-related programme and requested for the club owner at Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur to apologise," he said.
