Azalina new Umno information chief, Asyraf Wajdi the new sec-gen

SHAH ALAM - Isham Jalil today congratulated Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said on his Facebook page, confirming that the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) had been appointed to replace him as the Umno information chief.

Azalina leads a new cast of executive committee members which also sees former Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki replace Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan as the party's new secretary general.

"I would like to congratulate the new Umno supreme council members who were sworn in just now.

"I would also like to congratulate Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said for being appointed as Umno’s information head in my place," he said in a statement.

He further expressed his gratitude to all of Umno members, grassroots and information machinery for their corporation during the four months of his tenure as the information chief.

"I request that the ladies and gentlemen continue the struggle and give full cooperation to the new Umno information chief, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, who is a good and highly capable leader."

Isham also expressed his gratitude to Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for giving him the opportunity to serve as the organisation's information chief.

The party elections were held from March 11 to March 18.
