PUCHONG - An official protest will be lodged by Umno Puchong candidates due to blackout and sabotage claims at divisional party elections yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference, Umno Kampung Sri Puchong Division chief Azmi Ja’afar expressed doubts over the counting process for the polls after a blackout incident occurred at Umno Puchong polling centre.

Due to the incident, they had lodged a police report and firmly requested the authorities for proper measures.

“We had lodged a police report at the Bukit Jalil police station on March 19, it was made to request the authorities to take a proper action so this incident could be avoided next time.

“We will also file a formal complaint tomorrow and we will send a letter to the party elections committee.

“We hope the party will take appropriate action and hope for a re-election with more transparent measures are held,” he said.

The two-minute blackout took place around 1.37pm on March 18 according to Azmi.

Azmi said he believed the tactic was used during the vote counting process and planned accordingly to ensure wins on behalf of the perpetrators.
