The newly elected division chiefts throughout the nation include Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (Pontian) and Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh (Jasin).

Others are former Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya (Kangar) and former Kelantan Umno Youth chief Noor Hariri Mohd Nor (Pasir Mas) and Paya Besar MP Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (Paya Besar), former Umno Pasir Salak division deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun (Pasir Salak) and former Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii (Seputeh).

Surprisingly, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail also managed to win the position of Umno vice president for the 2023/2026 term by obtaining the highest number of votes (124 votes) This was followed by incumbent Mohamed Khaled, who managed to retain his position by getting 114 votes and Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani who followed closely at 107 votes.

WIth the victory of the new leadership line, it demonstrates Umno's eagerness to change by electing 'fresh' faces and leaders of calibre to ensure that the party remains relevant, especially in facing the next general elections. The party has a huge task ahead in restoring the trust of the people especially the youth by representing their voices on numerous issues such as welfare and high cost of living.

The new faces that have won in the party polls are expected to ensure that the party becomes the first choice of the Malay community again.

This signals that it is time to replace the old leadership with new and young leaders who have vision and leadership qualities to ensure that the party continues to be the people's choice.
