Nazifuddin hopes for no disputes after Umno polls
LANGKAWI - The newly-minted Langkawi Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib hopes candidates who lost in the recent Umno polls will work and continue their efforts in preparation for the upcoming state election.
He said several programmes to benefit the party in Langkawi and the branch leaders as well as programmes to increase membership will be carried out soon.
"I want to ensure those involved are brought together and the party can be unified towards the upcoming state election.
"I hope there will be no qualms after this. We must move forward as one big family to face the state election with the unity government," he said in a statement on Sunday.
Nazifuddin won the Langkawi Umno division chief post after defeating Nor Saidi Nanyan with a small majority of 12 votes.
The son of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be assisted by deputy division chief Datuk Armishah Siraj and division vice president Umi Kalsum Abd Mutalib.
He said he was grateful to the Langkawi Umno Division members for ensuring the election went smoothly.
"I appreciate each and every voter who has voted for me. Thank you to my parents, who always prayed for me and gave me the strength to go through my trials and tribulations in this election," he said.
