Umno election: Fierce competition for vice president posts

KUALA LUMPUR - The race to be top three candidates for the Umno vice president post in the party election for the 2023–2026 session is becoming more intense.

Pahang Umno chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail is in a relatively comfortable position, leading with 31 votes as of 8.20pm.

Incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin who is also Kota Tinggi member of parliament is inching closer to second place with 26 votes.

Meanwhile, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani is in third place with 19 votes.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman who was in third place four hours ago, has now dropped to fourth place with 13 votes.

Kepala Batas MP Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican also garnered 13 votes.

Two other candidates, Simpang Renggam MP Datuk Seri Hasni Mohamad and Padang Terap Umno chief Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid received eight and seven votes, respectively.
