'You chose the wrong prime minister, I won't falter to such threats' - Anwar
SHAH ALAM - Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim states he is not threatened by certain parties wanting to topple the unity government.
The PKR president 'welcomed' such acts despite receiving several threats.
Anwar said he is not threatened and was prepared to face any plan of attack to topple him.
"This is my ring, I have stayed patient for four months, I discuss systematically (and) today I will discuss as the PKR president (that is) a reform movement. Those who want to threaten me with assemblies, stating we are afraid to fight corruption and stating you chose the wrong prime minister.
"I won't falter to such threats, we will implement it if we have the power, if you attempt to take back (the government) feel free (because) it won't be an easy task as we will be prepared to fight with an unwavering will," he said during the President's policy speech at the 2023 PKR Special National Congress at Melawati Stadium on Saturday.
The prime minister also reminded the government today will not release anyone from their tax responsibilities and would continue to investigate parties protecting major 'taukes' from doing so.
"That is why we investigate, some have claimed that our actions are politically motivated, but we are different from before where political powers protected major criminals, major corrupts, bringing them riches and using their (political) powers as a cover
"We will use our powers to protect the people and attack the corrupt Tan Sri and major tauke groups, (there are) some who are planning to sue, use racial sentiments, invite Malays in hating other races, declaring the loss of (Malay) powers.
"You hold the reigns including the government for the past three years, where was Bill 355, where was the Kelantan, Terengganu, Perlis and Kedah project to increase funds. This year's budget increased the amount of money for those states," he stated.
