Anwar tears up watching an excerpt from movie 'Anwar: The Untold Story'

SHAH ALAM - PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was seen in tears when an excerpt from the film 'Anwar: The Untold Story' was shown at the 2023 PKR Special Congress on Saturday.

He and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail looked emotional and couldn't hold back the tears when excerpts from the film starring actor Farid Kamil as Anwar was shown.

The touching film by Indonesian director Viva Westi also stars Hasnul Rahmat as(Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) and co stars a handful of well-known Indonesian actors and actresses such as Acha Septriasa (Wan Azizah), Piet Pagau and Dewi Irawan.

The movie is expected to be released this May.

The film narrates Anwar's political journey, and his life as a reformist figure in the Malaysian political landscape.

Its based on the true story of what happened when Anwar served as the Finance Minister from 1991 until he was fired in 1998.

Before that, Anwar inaugurated the 2023 PKR Special Congress with the theme of Malaysia Madani: Implementation of an Idealism.

1,200 party representatives from all over the country are attending the congress.

Also seen present were PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, PKR secretary general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, DAP secretary general Anthony Loke, and Amanah vice president Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa.
