SHAH ALAM - PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail describes the party’s Special National Congress as unique after going through various challenges and betrayals before the 15th General Election (GE15).

In the gathering, he said it could be seen that the party continued to have loyal supporters in fighting for the reform agenda initiated by president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim since 1998.

"This congress is quite different compared to the previous ones as we had to go through various tests, challenges and being betrayed, but finally, we once again have the opportunity to be at the helm of the administration of Putrajaya, even sweeter, Anwar is now serving as Prime Minister.

"PKR is lucky enough to continue to have supporters who remain loyal to move the tide of reform until it succeeds across all towns, villages and rural areas and has the support of various races, ethnicities, age groups and activists.

“This is a true reformist," he said during his opening speech at the Special National Congress 2023 with the theme “Malaysia Madani: Implementation of an Idealism” at the Malawati Stadium, here, today.

Saifuddin also reminded all members of the party to have the drive to fight for the people and the country’s sake.

"Continue to step forward with a solid fight to move forward as an agent of change that contributes to a Malaysia Madani that we all dream of," he said.

The congress which was attended by PKR representatives from all over the country was held to discuss preparations for the six state elections which were expected to be held in July.
