Police open investigation papers over death threats on Mentega Terbang director
SHAH ALAM - Police have received two reports from 'Mentega Terbang' movie director and script writer who claimed he received death threats and has had his cars splashed with paint.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said both of the incidents took place yesterday.
He said the first incident took place at Taman Dagang Jaya, Ampang parking area at about 6.30am where the complainant's Proton Saga car was splashed with paint.
"Additionally, several notes with death threats were also found near the car." he said in a statement today.
He added Ampang Jaya district police headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Division has opened investigation papers under Section 507 and 427 of the Penal Code.
Hussein said the second incident took place at about 3.15am in Kajang where plastic bags filled with paint were thrown at a car belonging to a film crew.
He said a white envelope containing death threats were also found.
"Death threats were also sent to the complainant's family over text messages," he added.
He added that Kajang Criminal Investigation Division had also opened investigation papers under Section 507 and 427 of the Penal Code for committing treachery and criminal threats by phone calls and if convicted, the suspect could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison or fine or both.
Section 427 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years, fine or both, he added.
The public has been advised not make any speculations that could affect the country's harmony and peace.
"The police are taking this incident seriously and will probe until those involved are caught and brought to justice.
"The police also remind the public to not commit any act that violates the law," he said.
The police have asked the public with any futher information link to the two incidents to come forward, contact the nearest police station or directly contact the investigating officer which are Inspector Mu'az Mazlan at 017-9788804 (IPD Kajang) and Inspector Alif at 018-9834211 (IPD Ampang) to assist with the investigation.
