JOHOR BAHRU - The flood situation in the state is improving after Tangkak district became the latest district to fully recover from the disaster.
Following that, the number of flood victims decreased to 29,063 people as of 4 this afternoon compared to 31,680 recorded at 8 this morning.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), only two districts are still flooded, namely Batu Pahat and Segamat with 99 temporary relief centres (PPS) in operation. "Batu Pahat is still the most affected district with 29,019 people from 8,208 families followed by Segamat with 49 people from 15 families," according to the statement issued by JPBN.
At the same time, the Batu Pahat District Disaster Management secretariat said more flood victims will return to their homes after the flood situation appears to be receding.
In an observation conducted by Bernama, many flood victims were being assisted by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) volunteers to clean up the affected areas including the houses of residents.
